FOREST SCHOOL
During the school year your child will participate in forest school sessions. These sessions will run for 5 weeks in our conservation area within the school grounds.
Research suggests that children learn best from first-hand experiences. Exploring, playing and problem-solving within the forest school aims to encourage learning using a range of activities (both designed by the leader and instigated by the children themselves). Building a sense of independence, high self-esteem and team work are important parts of forest school, but health and safety considerations are always of paramount importance.
During the sessions the children will experience different activities which will give them an understanding of the woodland and develop skills. They will learn how to use tools and light fires safely building their confidence so that once it is appropriate they are able to do this independently. Forest school gives children the chance to learn and play with their peers in a way that they may not usually do, they learn to problem-solve together and improve social skills.
